The story behind
LAKI

LAKI began as a speculative branding experiment for FILA: could the bold sporting energy of the 1990s move forward without becoming nostalgia? The idea later became Armin’s to develop as an independent streetwear label. LA nods to the original FI-LA study, while KI was chosen to represent strength, energy and spirit. Heritage in Motion turns that beginning into a statement about taking something remembered and making it move again.

Tillie & Terry.

Tillie & Terry is an original Australian adventure series written, illustrated and designed by Armin Sabanovic—an independent body of work spanning children’s publishing, narrative illustration, character design and the creation of a continuing visual world.

Two little turtles.
One world that keeps growing.

Tillie and Terry began with a simple idea: two young turtles stepping beyond the safety of home and discovering how enormous the world around them really is.

Their adventures unfold through wetlands, forests, rocky ridges, moonlit caves and hidden waterways inspired by the Australian landscape. Along the way they meet animals with homes, histories and problems of their own.

What begins as a small adventure gradually reveals a much larger world—one shaped by old trails, forgotten stories, changing seasons and characters whose lives continue beyond a single book.

Small studio.
Big ideas.

Armin Sabanovic is a Melbourne-based graphic designer, illustrator and published children’s author with more than 15 years of creative experience. His work moves between brand identity, packaging, campaigns, illustration and visual storytelling—connected by a love of ideas with personality.

He founded Armin Design Studio around a simple belief: great creative work doesn’t need a big agency wrapped around it. Every project is developed directly with Armin, from the first rough idea through to the finished identity, campaign or experience. No layers of account management. No ideas getting lost between departments.

His approach combines strategic thinking with curiosity, experimentation and a strong instinct for storytelling. That might mean building a Japanese street-food identity, reimagining a cultural tradition through contemporary design, creating a campaign with a sense of humour, or developing an illustrated world from the first pencil sketch to a published book.

The aim is never simply to make something look good. It is to give an idea a voice, a character and a world it can belong to.
